Tummy Tuck
“I lost all this weight…but what about this loose skin?”
It can almost seem like some sort of cruel joke Mother Nature plays on you. You work so hard to lose excess weight and suddenly find that your abdominal skin is flaccid and saggy in appearance. The whole idea in losing the weight was to feel better, inside and out, but now you’re embarrassed to show your tummy. This is one of the many reasons so many elect to undergo abdominoplasty: more commonly known as a tummy tuck.
“What is a tummy tuck?”
Essentially, a tummy tuck involves making incisions through loose skin, underlying tissue and muscle, then ‘pulling’ the areas downward and removing the excess. The length, position and contour of the incisions are determined by the structure of the abdomen, style of bathing suit and type of undergarments you prefer. Sutures are then used to bring the tissue and muscle together. A Dr. Marcadis will discuss the variables with you, explaining the best approach in providing the best possible results for your individual procedure.
“What else should I know?”
Most importantly, we want you to understand that you have a full support team of professionals who have a genuine concern for your total wellness. Any question or concern you have should be expressed to the doctor so you receive the answers you need, no matter how small or trivial you may think they are.
You’ll receive detailed instructions on post-operative care, so be sure to follow them carefully. You’ll notice swelling and bruising, which are typical with any surgery, so don’t worry. Recovery time varies from patient to patient and regularly scheduled visits will help gauge your individual progress.
Other changes won’t be visible, but will have a strong impact on you. You’ll experience an improved self-image, resulting in increased self-confidence. The way you dress will probably change, and that’s a good thing! You’ve taken steps to improve your appearance and it’s only natural to enjoy the fruits of your labor. How you choose to enjoy your new look is totally up to you, but one thing is certain…you will enjoy the results!
