Breast Augmentation

“Do I want it for the right reasons?”

The reasons for choosing breast augmentation are as personal and individual as the women who make the choice. The woman who feels self-conscious about her breast size; the mother who wants the figure she had before her pregnancy; the young lady concerned about the shape of her breasts. Although the reasons vary, the goal is always the same: you want to feel more confident about the way you look. At Marcadis Plastic Surgery, we know that the best reasons to have breast augmentation plastic surgery are personal.

Every year, members of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery perform more breast augmentation plastic surgery than any other plastic surgery procedure. Breast implant surgery is the most popular method of improving breast shape and size and Dr. Marcadis offers the experience, compassion and professionalism to provide the natural look you want.

“So…how is this done?”

Before any surgery takes place, you and Dr. Marcadis will decide the best place to make incisions based on your implant choice, your lifestyle and other variables. He’ll share the available implant options and discuss which are best suited for you. During the procedure, Dr. Marcadis will make incisions in inconspicuous areas to minimize visible scarring. The implants are then properly placed, the incisions are closed and your recovery period begins.

“What else should I know?”

The most important thing to remember is that Dr. Marcadis and his staff are here to help you with your recovery. Your questions and concerns will always be addressed to your satisfaction. You’ll receive detailed instructions concerning post-surgical care, regularly scheduled examinations and someone who genuinely cares enough to give you their full attention when you have a question.

Now…once your recovery is complete, there are a few changes that will most likely occur, outside the obvious physical results. Like any change, you’ll slowly adapt to your enhancement and quickly come to view yourself in a different light. Of course, you’ll still be you, but you just may find you’re a bit more confident now. Remember that bathing suit you always wanted to wear? How about that evening dress? Your new shape may open a whole new world of fashion opportunities for you! Many issues that were tied to your personal self-image may disappear as you become more and more comfortable with your new body. Many women report a stronger emotional intimacy with their partner due to their improved self-image. You’ll find a world of positive changes that go far beyond the physical. Congratulations!

Breast Lift

What Happens During A Breast Lift?

Breast LiftA breast lift is an elective plastic surgery procedure that is designed to lift or alter the shape of a woman’s breasts. Also known as mastopexy, it usually involves repositioning the nipple and areola, lifting and tightening the skin around and below the breast tissue, and removing any unnecessary skin.

This surgery can be done by itself, or it can be done while inserting breast implants. This is where confusion sometimes arises, because when it is done in concert with the insertion of breast implants, the surgery is termed augmentation mastopexy.

Who Might Be A Candidate For A Breast Lift?

Candidates for this kind of cosmetic surgery are women who have breasts that have laxity of the tissues and sag (ptosis), have little substance to them, or the nipple and areola have shifted lower.

Before we schedule you for a breast lift procedure, Dr. Marcadis will meet with you for a personal consultation. This is when you and Dr. Marcadis will discuss what is concerning you and how a breast lift may help. Be honest throughout, because what you tell him will determine what is actually done during your breast lift surgery.

Discuss your current breast shape and size, and how much of a change you want to see in them, after the surgery is over. During the breast lift consultation, Dr. Marcadis will show you how the nipple and areola will be repositioned, how the breast surgery will be done, and you can see photos of breast lift results.

Common Types Of Breast Lift Surgery

It is important for you to know that breast lift procedures involve scars that circle the areola, then descends vertically to the breast crease, and at times also a scar under the breast near the crease. These scars are permanent and although we like for them to heal nicely, they may be red and thickened especially after three months. They will usually improve after that but may take a year and a half or longer. We will certainly assist you during this time period to help you get the best possible result. A vertical lift involves an incision just around the areola and down to the crease. If you are a candidate for a vertical lift you may be able to avoid the scar under the breast. Dr. Marcadis will discuss this at your initial consultation.  The size (diameter) of the areola can be reduced as well during the breast lift. Call Marcadis Plastic Surgery for a personal consultation.

Breast Reduction Surgery

Breast reduction surgery or reduction mammoplasty is a procedure to reduce the size and heaviness. of the breast. It can be done at any time usually after the age of 17. It involves the removal of excess fat, skin and glandular tissue from the breasts in order to reduce their size. Breast sag can also be corrected with breast reduction surgery.

Who Can Opt for Breast Reduction Surgery

The ideal breast reduction candidates are those who have large, heavy, or hanging breasts that are disproportionately large in comparison to the rest of their body, or those who  suffer from physical  problems due to breast heaviness. The most common physical problems associated with large breasts is that of chronic pain in the back, neck, head, or shoulders. Strap grooves and sweating and irritation are also common.

Social problems can also be caused by breasts that are too largel. Even if they do not suffer from any physical discomforts the emotional trauma and lack of self esteem caused due to pendulous breasts can make them candidates for breast reduction surgery.

Benefits of Breast Reduction

Breast reduction benefits can be immense to women suffering from a low self esteem due to their disproportionate bodies. Both physical and mental discomforts can be relieved using breast reduction. The effects of this procedure are long lasting and although with time some changes are bound to occur in your breasts due to hormones, aging and gravity, the breast reduction benefits can be enjoyed for a very long time.

Preparations Required Before you Undergo the Surgery

A good breast reduction surgeon plays a very important role in determining the success of your surgery.  It is important to be completely candid with your doctor, discuss your reasons for having the surgery, any medical allergies that you might have and your previous surgery history. Being upfront with your doctor is very important so that the doctor may understand your desires.

Dr. Marcadis will also evaluate your general health before the surgery. Any harmful habits like smoking might have to be dropped for some time to come in order to facilitate complete healing. Any anti-inflammatory drugs or herbal preparations that you might be taking generally have to be stopped as these can hamper the healing process.

The experienced plastic surgery staff at Marcadis Plastic Surgery is always available to explain the breast reduction procedure and offer valuable advice on breast reduction surgery.

Tummy Tuck

“I lost all this weight…but what about this loose skin?”

It can almost seem like some sort of cruel joke Mother Nature plays on you. You work so hard to lose excess weight and suddenly find that your abdominal skin is flaccid and saggy in appearance. The whole idea in losing the weight was to feel better, inside and out, but now you’re embarrassed to show your tummy. This is one of the many reasons so many elect to undergo abdominoplasty: more commonly known as a tummy tuck.

“What is a tummy tuck?”

Essentially, a tummy tuck involves making incisions through loose skin, underlying tissue and muscle, then ‘pulling’ the areas downward and removing the excess. The length, position and contour of the incisions are determined by the structure of the abdomen, style of bathing suit and type of undergarments you prefer. Sutures are then used to bring the tissue and muscle together. A Dr. Marcadis will discuss the variables with you, explaining the best approach in providing the best possible results for your individual procedure.

“What else should I know?”

Most importantly, we want you to understand that you have a full support team of professionals who have a genuine concern for your total wellness. Any question or concern you have should be expressed to the doctor so you receive the answers you need, no matter how small or trivial you may think they are.

You’ll receive detailed instructions on post-operative care, so be sure to follow them carefully. You’ll notice swelling and bruising, which are typical with any surgery, so don’t worry. Recovery time varies from patient to patient and regularly scheduled visits will help gauge your individual progress.

Other changes won’t be visible, but will have a strong impact on you. You’ll experience an improved self-image, resulting in increased self-confidence. The way you dress will probably change, and that’s a good thing! You’ve taken steps to improve your appearance and it’s only natural to enjoy the fruits of your labor. How you choose to enjoy your new look is totally up to you, but one thing is certain…you will enjoy the results!

Liposuction

“Why can’t I get rid of this fat?”

You’ve tried every new diet known to humankind and every exercise regiment recommended by the latest fitness guru Du Jour. Yet, there it is: that excess fat on your stomach, bottom, hips, thighs and calves. Whoever called them ‘love handles’ didn’t ask your opinion and you’re wondering if you’ll ever be rid of them. This is what is commonly known as ‘diet resistant’ fat. These areas can actually be due to genetic conditions, and in these cases, exercise and diet simply won’t do the job. That’s where Marcadis Plastic Surgery and Liposuction can help.

“What, exactly, is Liposuction?”

The basic technique is fairly simple: fat is removed using a hollow metal tube that’s passed through the fatty tissue. SAL, or suction-assisted liposuction employs a pump that generates a vacuum. This is one of the most common forms of liposuction. Power-assisted liposuction involves attaching a motor to the metal tube, which causes it to vacillate back and forth, in essence doing the work of liposuction. Ultrasonic generators and lasers can also be utilized to break down fat cells.

“What else should I know?”

A Dr. Marcadis and his entire staff are here to help you with all your post-operative care, questions and concerns. Recovery time isn’t the same for everyone, so keep this in mind. As with every surgery, there will be some swelling and bruising. This is normal…and temporary…so don’t worry. You’ll be given detailed instructions after your procedure and we’re always here when you have a question or concern.

There are a few things you’ll want to consider. Since Liposuction actually reduces your size, be prepared to do some shopping after your recovery is complete! There will probably be a period of readjustment and a little shift in fashion taste. Don’t be surprised if you become tempted to wear styles you’ve avoided in the past. That’s one of the many ‘perks’ when you undergo such an impacting transformation…and that’s a good thing! Increased self-confidence, better self-image and an uncontrollable urge to smile: just a few of the many benefits associated with Liposuction performed at Marcadis Plastic Surgery!
